Women's Volleyball Gears up to Host Scarlet Hawks Tuesday Night

River Forest, Ill. – The Dominican University Women's Volleyball wraps up their three-game home stand with a PINK OUT in the Igini Sports Forum against Illinois Tech on Tuesday night.

Series History vs. Illinois Tech:
 All-Time Record / Streak: 5-4 / L3
-Dominican and Illinois Tech played their first match on 10/23/2010 (L3-1).
-The Stars are 1-3 inside the Igini Sports Forum against the Scarlet Hawks.
-Dominican's last win against Illinois Tech was 10/5/2021 at Illinois Tech (3-0).
-During this 3-game losing streak against the Scarlet Hawks, two of them have been decided in the 5th set.
-DU had a 5-match win streak against Illinois Tech from 2015 to 2021.

DU in Review:
-DU currently holds a 2-13 (1-4 NAAC) record this season.
-Dominican completed the 2024 season with a 12-13 record, including going 5-8 in conference and 7-3 at home.
-The Stars missed out on the 2024 NACC Tournament. DU's last conference tournament appearance came in the shortened 2020 season.

-Senior Ellery Shea was third in kills for DU last season, amassing 136 on .177 hitting. Shea also added 37 blocks during her Junior campaign.
-Senior Veronica Henkel collected 59 kills during the 2024 season in 23 matches played.
-Junior Kathryn Ksiezak started in 18 matches last season, notching 55 kills and led the Stars with 39 total blocks.
-Senior Lola Butler recorded 21 matches played in 2024, potting 16 kills and 20 aces.

Last Time Out:
-The Stars fell in their second straight home game to the top seeded Eagles of Edgewood  (3-1).
-Senior Lola Butler led the Stars with 7 kills, 2 service aces, a block, and 6 digs.  
-Senior Veronica Henkel added 6 kills to her name.
-Senior Ellery Shea collected 5 kills and 3 service aces in this afternoon's match.
 
Shining Stars:
-Senior Veronica Henkel leads the way for DU with 113 kills on the season and averages 2.26 kills per set. Henkel also has 17 aces on the season, pacing the Stars in the category. The Senior has also collected 112 digs on the season.
-Senior Ellery Shea has collected 105 kills during the 2025 campaign, which is good for 2.39 kills per set.
-Freshman Karolina Stonkus has started strong in her collegiate career, collecting 305 assists and averaging 6.10 assists per set. The freshman also has 17 service aces.
-Sophomore Fabiana Pizzo has come on strong for the Stars defensively, with 172 digs in 13 matches played.
-Senior Lola Butler has been all over the stat sheet for Dominican, collecting 84 digs and 10 aces.
-Freshman Taylor Lupton has collected 14 service aces this season.
-Junior Kathryn Ksiezak has collected 34 total blocks on the season, 7 of those being solo blocks.
 
Scouting Report:
-Illinois Tech is 6-12 overall and 2-4 in the NACC.
-The Scarlet Hawks are 4-5 on the road.
-Illinois Tech is coming off a 3-1 loss to Wisconsin Lutheran but before that had a 3-match win streak. In this win streak they beat Marian (3-2), CUC (3-1), and Lake Forest (3-1).
-The Scarlet Hawks will start a back-to-back road trip when they play the Stars.
 -Illinois Tech is hitting at a clip of .132 with 10.5 kills per set, 1.8 aces per set, and 15.4 digs per set.
