River Forest, Ill. – The Dominican University Men's Basketball team opened the 2025-2026 season in a gray out at home against Eureka College on Saturday.

How it Happened:
-Sophomore
Lucas Underwood started on fire from three, cashing in on three of his first four attempts and knotted DU and Eureka at 12-12 four minutes in.
-After Freshman
Chase LeFevre put away a layup, Sophomore
Emmanuel Fuller converted on a fast break to give Dominican a 21-19 lead with 11:27 to go in the first half.
-DU went on a 5-minute scoring drought, which was broken via a free throw by Underwood.
-The Stars closed out the first half on a 6-0 run after a layup by Senior
Dominic Crapia and a three by Freshman
Elijah Daugherty. DU took a 36-30 lead into the break.
-Eureka came out firing to start the second and took a 54-48 lead six minutes into the frame.
-Dominican fought to cut down the lead and went on a 6-0 run that was capped off by a three by Crapia between the 8:31 and 7:50 marks.
-Down the stretch, the lead was changed 6 times, as Eureka eventually jumped out to a 3-point lead with 52 seconds remaining.
-A lay-up and free throw by Underwood in the last minute tied the game at 81-81 and set opening night into overtime.
-The Red Devils jumped out to an 86-81 lead to start overtime, with a layup by Underwood cutting into the Eureka advantage.
-The Stars were unable to complete the comeback in the overtime frame and dropped the opener by a final of 90-85.
-Dominican scored 42 points in the paint compared to Eureka's 28.
-The Stars had 18 points come from the bench.
Shining Stars:
-Sophomore
Lucas Underwood dropped a new career-high 24 points on an efficient 9-17 from the field while adding 3 assists and 2 steals.
-Senior
Dominic Crapia collected a career-high 17 points and was 8-9 from the free throw line. Crapia got it done on the defensive side of the floor, notching 4 steals.
-Senior
Adrian Pelszynski scored 14 points and had 8 rebounds.
-Sophomore
Braydon Murphy was one point shy of a double-double, dropping 9 points and 14 rebounds. Murphy's 14 boards put him in a tie for 8
th all-time for rebounds in a single game.

The Dominican University Men's Basketball team moves to 0-1 on the season. The Stars take on Division I Purdue Fort Wayne in an exhibition contest on Sunday, November 9
th before heading to Kalamazoo for a non-conference game on Saturday, November 15
th. Tip-off against Kalamazoo will be at 2:00 p.m. ET.
