Box Score River Forest, Ill. – The Dominican University Women's Basketball team hosted Beloit College in their season home opener in the Igini Sports Forum.

How it Happened:
-Stars were jumping early, getting out to a 9-3 lead early in the first quarter, thanks to Junior
Kaitlyn Milison's 7 points.
-Freshman
Emily Bouaphanh was incredible in her first collegiate minutes, knocking down three free throws and grabbing multiple rebounds.
-Dominican led 20-17 at the end of the first quarter and shot 66% from the charity stripe in the quarter.
-Junior
Lia Saunders stopped the 9-0 Buccaneers run in the second quarter to cut the deficit to 26-22.
-Junior
Olivia Genthner tied the game up at 26 with four straight points.
-DU continued that momentum with Freshman
Kennedy Yost and Bouaphanh stretching the lead out to 34-28.
-Dominican took a 6-point lead into the break, shooting 40% from the floor in the second quarter.
-Coming out of the break, the Stars' defense suffocated the Buccaneers, holding them to just 8 points in the third and holding them to 3-15 from the floor.
- Junior
Teagan Dahl collected 4 points in the quarter for DU.
-Dominican continued to stretch out the lead, having their second-best shooting percentage quarter, shooting 41.18% from the floor.
-Saunders had ice in her veins in the closing quarter, scoring 8 of her 14 points in the 4
th quarter.
-The Stars collected 36 points in the paint and 26 points off turnovers. Dominican had 30 points off the bench. DU led in all three of these categories.
Shining Stars:
-Junior
Lia Saunders earned player of the game for the Stars, scoring 14 points, collecting 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal.
- Junior
Kaitlyn Milison showed out in game one for DU scoring 9 points, grabbing 9 rebounds, and adding 2 steals and a block.
- Freshman
Emily Bouaphanh earned her keep in her first collegiate career, bringing energy for Dominican on both sides of the floor. The freshman collected 9 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals.
- Junior
Teagan Dahl played great in her first minutes for the Stars, collecting 8 points and 3 rebounds.
-Freshman
Kennedy Yost earned her first collegiate start and was incredible for Dominican. Yost had 7 points and 8 rebounds. Leading the team in boards.
- Sophomore
Allannah Jackson was all over the score sheet with 7 points, 6 steals, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists.

What's Next:
Dominican University Women's Basketball starts off the season 1-0 for the first time since the 2019-2020 season. The Stars will travel to Appleton, Wisconsin, on Tuesday, November 11th, for their next game. Tip-off between Dominican and Lawrence University is set for 7:00 p.m.
