Stars Take Down Monmouth After Holiday Break

River Forest, Ill. – The Dominican University Women's Basketball team returned home after the holidays to host the Scots of Monmouth College on Tuesday.

 Results:
Dominican: 60
Monmouth: 44

 How it Happened:
-The Stars had to claw back into the game after going down 9-4 in the first two minutes.
-Junior Teagan Dahl notched back-to-back buckets to spark a 10-0 run for DU throughout the first, which was capped off with a three-pointer by Junior Olivia Genthner.
-The Scots fought their way back to tie the game at 15-15, where a free throw by Sophomore Allanah Jackson gave the Stars a 16-15 lead into the second.
-After Dahl and Junior Lia Saunders collected a pair of buckets to begin the second, Freshman Kennedy Yost converted a clutch and-one to extend the Dominican lead to 23-15.
-Yost added 7 points in the second quarter as the Stars headed into the halftime break up 32-23.
-Dominican continued to dominate in the paint throughout the third, with Junior Kaitlyn Milison and Freshman Emily Bouaphanh adding lay-ups in the frame.
-The Stars took a 46-37 lead into the fourth after a lay-up by Saunders before the buzzer.
-Dahl and Junior Laila Jones chipped in to extend the DU lead to 52-37 by the midpoint of the fourth.
-A pair of lay-ups from Jackson and two for two trips to the line for Dahl and Milison sealed Dominican's 60-44 win over the Scots.
-Dominican outscored the Scots 28-8 in points off turnovers and 38-24 in points in the paint.
-DU's win over Monmouth marks the 2nd consecutive game in which DU won with 60 points.
-The Stars shot 34.8% from the field, 6.7% from three, and 64.7% at the line.

 Shining Stars:
 -Junior Teagan Dahl led DU in scoring with 14 points and added 8 rebounds and a block.
-Freshman Kennedy Yost totaled 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals.
-Junior Lia Saunders tallied 8 points, 4 assists, and a steal.
-Junior Kaitlyn Milison made a big impact off the bench, collecting 7 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 steals.
-Sophomore Allanah Jackson notched 5 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals.

 What's Next:
 Dominican University Women's Basketball improved to 6-5 on the 2025-2026 season and is 0-3 in NACC play. DU is back in action at home and will return to NACC play on Saturday, January 3rd, to take on Lakeland. Opening tip against the Muskies is slated for 3:15 p.m.
