Women's Basketball Focuses on Road Test

Madison, Wis. – Dominican University Women's Basketball heads to Edgewood College for a road test on Wednesday.  

Series History vs Edgewood:
All-Time Record / Streak: 7-14 / Dominican L5
During the 2023-2024 season, DU and Edgewood played once, in which the Stars fell in Madison 39-87 on 1/24/2024.
The last time Dominican defeated Edgewood was on 2/11/2019, by a final score of 48-44.
DU is 3-7 all-time at Edgewood.
 
DU in Review:
-Dominican is currently on a ten-game winless streak. 
-DU is averaging 54.5 points per game while allowing opponents to score 67.3 points per game.
-The Stars are currently 3-8 on the road this season.
-Dominican is 4-13 coming off a loss. 
 
Last Time Out:
-DU's was shut down at home on Senior Night by Rockford, 51-77 on Saturday, February 15th.
-Freshman Elizabeth McCabe led the Stars in scoring and in rebounds with 12 and 7 respectively.  
-Graduate Student Melissa Gomez posted 9 points and 3 steals.
-Sophomore Lia Saunders and Sophomore Kaitlyn Milison tallied 7 points each. Milison also collected 2 blocks and a steal.
 
Star Gazing:
-The Stars offense has been led by Graduate Student Melissa Gomez. Gomez averages 11.0 points per game on the season and has been in double figures in 13 of the last 17 games.    
- Sophomore Lia Saunders has been all over the court for the Stars consistently this season. Saunders has recorded a stat in points, rebounds, and assists in every single game this season aside from two where she did not pick up an assist or score a point. Saunders leads the team with 61 assists on the year. 
-Freshman Danielle Washington is a player to always look out for if she catches fire from downtown. Washington is shooting 28.3% from behind the arc but has multiple games where she has knocked down 5 threes. Washington leads the team with 30 made threes. 

-Junior Kamila Gajkowska has the second most rebounds on the team with 93 total rebounds and averages 4.2 boards per game. Gajkowska leads the team with 12 blocks on the season.
 
Scouting Report: 
-Edgewood is 13-10 overall, with a 9-5 conference record, and is 6-2 at home.
-The Eagles are coming off a loss at home against Wisconsin Lutheran on Saturday by a final of 53-63.
-Edgewood averages 65.0 points per game while yielding 65.3 points per game to their opponents.
