Stars Win Overtime Thriller on Senior Day

River Forest, Ill. – The Dominican University men's basketball team hosted the Spartans of Aurora University on Senior Day in the Igini Sports Forum.
 
Results:

How it Happened: 
-The Stars recorded the first basket of the game with a three-point jump shot from Senior Terrell Taylor.
-Dominican and Aurora traded buckets for the first three minutes after the three, until the Spartans went on a 7-0 run to make the score 15-9 in favor of AU.  
-DU tied the game up at 18 with 12 minutes to play after Junior Dominic Crapia hit a three.   
-The Stars would push out a 7-point lead with the help of 5th Year Student Andre Bennett and Senior Daniel Nennig each getting buckets.  
-Aurora pushed out a 14-3 run to end the half, with the Spartans taking a 41-37 lead into the break.
-DU shot 50% from the floor and 10-12 from the charity stripe in the first half.   
-Nennig would hit four free throws to cut the DU deficit to just 2 points.  
-Dominican and Aurora would trade buckets for the first 14 minutes of the second half until DU went on a little run and took a 73-71 lead with 7 minutes to play after Senior Ethan Worley made a fast-break layup.  
-The Stars would get the lead to four points with T. Taylor making a layup in the paint with 4 minutes remaining in regulation.  

-The Spartans went on their own run to take an 84-83 lead with 2:24 to play.  
-5Th Year Student Camron Scott went 4-4 from the charity stripe to end regulation with the score being 87-87.   

-The Stars shot 58% from the floor in the second half and 10-11 from the free-throw line.

-Dominican and Aurora continued to trade buckets in overtime and were all tied up at 93 with 1:23 left to play.

-T. Taylor made back-to-back layups in between AU scores grabbing a 97-96 lead for DU.

-Bennett knocked in two free throws with four seconds left to play, making the score 99-96.

-Aurora made 1-2 free throws after the Stars elected to foul up three and Nennig grabbed the rebound of the missed free throw.

-Nennig knocks home the final two points of the game and seals a storybook ending for the four-year senior and the whole Dominican basketball program on senior day.  

-The Stars shot 44% from the floor and 6-7 from the free-throw line in the overtime period.

 
Shining Stars: 
-Senior Terrell Taylor was the leading scorer for DU with 23 points on 9-15 shooting. T. Taylor also chipped in with 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and a block.   

-5th Year Student Camron Scott added another Double-Double to his resume with 22 points and 10 rebounds on 8-10 shooting. Scott also added 2 assists, 1 block, and 2 steals.  
-Senior Daniel Nennig ended his four-year Dominican career with a stellar performance. Nennig collected 17 points going 9-10 from the free-throw line and the final two free-throws of the game. Nenning also contributed with 5 assists and 3 rebounds.    
-5th Year Student Andre Bennett added 17 points for the Stars on 4-9 shooting from downtown.  
-Senior Ethan Worley played significant minutes on his Senior Day and did not disappoint at all scoring 7 points, collecting an assist, and 2 steals.

What's Next: 
The Dominican University mens basketball season has come to an end. The Stars finishing with an 8-17 overall record and 5-13 conference record. DU had a 5-8 record inside the Igini Sports Forum.
