DUWBB Heads on the Road After Three-Game Home Stand

Plymouth, Wis. – The Dominican University Women’s Basketball team heads to Lakeland University for their first road game since January 25th.  


Series History vs Lakeland:

All-Time Record / Streak: 4-16 / Dominican L3

During the 2023-2024 season, DU and Lakeland played once in the Igini Sports Forum and the Stars lost 83-63.

The last time Dominican beat Lakeland was on January 18th, 2020 with the final score of 78-50 at Lakeland.

DU is 2-7 at Lakeland.

 

DU in Review:

-Dominican is currently on a 7-game losing streak. 

-DU is averaging 54.6 points per game while allowing opponents to score 66.3 points per game.

-The Stars are currently 3-6 away from the Igini Sports Forum.

-Dominican is 4-10 coming off a loss. 

 

Last Time Out:

-DU fell to the second best team in the conference Wisconsin Lutheran. The final score was 78-35. 

-Graduate Student Melissa Gomez battled some foul trouble early in the game but ended up with 10 points and 6 rebounds.  

-Freshman Danielle Washington added 6 points to her name hitting two threes’.  

-Freshman Chenoa Moss went 4-5 from the charity stripe and finished with 6 points and 5 rebounds.
 

Star Gazing:

 

-The Stars offense has been led by Graduate Student Melissa Gomez. Gomez averages 10.7 points per game on the season and has been in double figures in 11 of the last 14 games.    

- Sophomore Lia Saunders has been all over the court for the Stars consistently this season. Saunders has recorded a stat in points, rebounds, and assists in every single game this season aside from two where she did not pick up an assist or score a point. Saunders leads the team with 48 assists on the year. 

-Freshman Danielle Washington is a player to always look out for if she catches fire from downtown. Washington is shooting 29.1% from behind the arc but has multiple games where she has knocked down 5 threes. Washington leads the team with 25 made threes. 

-Junior Kamila Gajkowska has the second most rebounds on the team with 82 total rebounds and averages 4.1 boards per game. Gajkowska leads the team with 10 blocks on the season.
 

Scouting Report: 

-Lakeland is 9-11 overall, with a 6-5 conference record and a 8-2 record on their home court.

-The Muskies are currently on a 3-game losing streak.

-Lakeland’s last win was on January 25th vs Rockford University with a score of 70-48.

-The Muskies are scoring 68.5 points per game while allowing 64.9 points per game to their opponents.
