Chicago, Ill. – Dominican University Baseball traveled to North Park University for a standalone game before beginning conference play.
Results:
Dominican: 8
North Park: 15
How it Happened:
-Dominican would strike first in the top of the 2
nd inning after Senior
CJ Kalekas singled to right, scoring Senior
Ryan Schmidt, followed by Kalekas scoring on a foul out by Sophomore
Ty Phillips.
-North Park would even the score at 2-2 in the bottom of the 3
rd.
-The Stars would take a 6-2 lead in the top of the fourth after RBI doubles from Senior
Braiden Galvin and Phillips. Galvin would then score on a wild pitch, followed by a sacrifice fly from Junior
Niko Krecu.
-North Park would then outscore DU from the bottom of the 4
th to the bottom of the 8
th 11-0 and the Stars would find themselves trailing 15-6 heading into the top of the 9
th.
-In the top of the 9
th, Phillips would advance to home after Senior
Quinton Schwartz was hit by a pitch. Junior
Zach Helein then walked home during an at-bat from Schmidt.
-The 9
th inning rally would come up short, and DU would fall by a final of 15-8.
-Dominican finished with 11 hits and 0 errors in the defeat.

Ty Phillips went 3-4 with a double and 2 RBIs.
-Senior
Ryan Schmidt finished 2-4 with an RBI and a walk.

Braiden Galvin was 1-4 with an RBI double.
