Winter Haven, Fla. – The Dominican University team wrapped up their spring break trip Saturday against Trine University and the University of Mount Union, after a day off on Friday.
Game 1 Results:
Trine: 12
Dominican: 1
How it Happened:
-The Thunder got going early scoring 4 runs on 4 hits in the top of the first inning.
-Trine added to their total with 2 runs on 3 hits in the top of the second inning.
-The Thunder made it 9-0 with a three-run homerun in the top of the fourth.
-Trine brought their lead to 12-0 in the 5
th scoring 3 runs on 2 hits.
-Dominican got on the board in the bottom of the 5
th inning with Senior

How it Happened:
-Mount Union struck first in the bottom of the second inning scoring a run on two hits.
-UMU scored again in the bottom of the third inning scoring 3 runs on 3 hits.
-The Stars got on the board in the top of the fourth inning with Senior
Gillian Czubernat hitting an RBI single to center field, with Sophomore
Kailee Diaz Randall coming around to score. Sophomore
Emme Slavens brought home Freshman
Sara Cornell on an error by the third baseman.
-Dominican brought the game within one when they ran a double steal with Junior
Leilani Guzman stealing second and Freshman
Isabella Olmos stealing home.
-DU got the tying run on second base in the top of the seventh inning but could not bring her home.

What's Next:
The Dominican University softball team fell to 6-4 overall on the season and will leave their spring break trip with a 6-4 record on the trip. Dominican will look to get back to their winning ways in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, as the Stars will be a part of the Transylvania Tournament. Their first games in the tournament will be on Saturday, March 15
th, with a doubleheader against Muskingum University at 1:30 p.m. and Transylvania University at 3:45 p.m. that same afternoon.
