River Forest, Ill. – Men's Volleyball hosted three matches in two days while Baseball and Softball closed out their week in Orlando during a jam-packed week of Dominican University Athletics.

 Coming off their win at Edgewood on Saturday, March 1st, Men's Volleyball was back home for three matches over two days. On Friday, the Stars would sweep Wabash College to begin the weekend. Senior Tanner Dahman paced DU with 13 kills and 2 aces, while Freshman Landon Diaz continued his dominant run of form at the net with 8 total blocks. Dominican then hosted Loras College on Saturday for the first match of a doubleheader. The Duhawks' offense proved too much for the Stars to overcome, as DU would fall in straight sets. Senior Nathaniel Cossyleon notched 11 kills, followed by Sophomore Ty Geschke with 10. The Stars would then get themselves back on track with a sweep over NACC opponent Rockford University later that afternoon. Cossyleon posted a team-high 10 kills in the match, while Junior Michael Greco put up 5 blocks. DUMVB will be back on the court at home on Tuesday, March 11th against the Illinois Institute of Technology at 7:00 p.m. before heading on the road to Benedictine University on Saturday, March 15th. The match against Benedictine will begin at 1:00 p.m.

 Baseball battled throughout the remainder of their schedule during the RussMatt Invitational. On Monday, a quick start by DU was overshadowed by the bats of the University of Dubuque as the Stars would fall by a final of 5-8. Junior Niko Krecu and Sophomore Alex Garcia picked up an RBI each in the loss. The Stars then bounced back with a walk-off win in the 10th inning against Northland College on Thursday, with the final score being 7-6. Junior Matthew Earley had the game-winning RBI, while Senior Ryan Schmidt hit a three-run bomb in the bottom of the 7th, followed by a game-tying home run by Junior Tyler Johnson. After the walk-off victory, DU would split a doubleheader against Mount St. Joseph University on Friday, falling 2-10 in the first game and claiming a 9-7 victory in game two. Krecu had 2 RBIs in the win over MSJU. The Stars would end their week in Florida with a win over Albion College on Saturday, 7-3. Senior CJ Kalekas had a solid outing on the mound, throwing 6.0 innings while allowing only one earned run. DU Baseball finished their trip to Orlando with a 5-3 record and is now 7-4 in the 2025 campaign. The Stars will travel to Rock Island, Illinois, to face Illinois College on Saturday, March 15th, at 1:30 p.m. before taking on Buena Vista University and Augustana College on Sunday, March 16th. The first pitch against Buena Vista is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., while the game against Augustana is slated to begin at 2:00 p.m.

 Softball shifted gears after dropping their first two games of the season during THE Spring Games tournament in Orlando. On Monday, the Stars swept both games on the day, first defeating Saint Mary's University 6-3 before dispatching Wentworth Institute of Technology 11-3. Against Saint Mary's, Senior Emma Woodhouse pitched a complete game while adding 2 RBIs in the win. Freshman Isabella Olmos hit her first collegiate home run against WIT. After a day off, DU then went 2-0 on Wednesday, taking down Bethany Lutheran College 5-3 and Mount St. Joseph University 6-5. Freshman Kayla Amormino and Freshman Madisen Butler picked up 2 RBIs each against Bethany Lutheran. Against MSJU, Freshman Sara Cornell hit her first collegiate home run while Olmos picked up her second HR of the tournament. Dominican then extended their winning streak to six games after picking up another two wins on Thursday, beating Emmanuel College 8-0, followed by a 4-0 win over Emmanuel College. Freshman Rhiannon Rubio, Freshman Hannah Richards, and Woodhouse combined for zero runs allowed over the 13 innings played. The Stars would close out the tournament by dropping both of their games on Saturday, losing to Trine University 1-12 and the University of Mount Union 3-4. DU Softball leaves THE Spring Games tournament with a 6-4 record and shifts its focus to the Transylvania Tournament this upcoming weekend. Dominican will take on Muskingum University at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 15th before facing Transylvania University at 3:45 p.m. that afternoon. The Stars then match up against Franklin College on Sunday, March 16th at 9:00 a.m., followed by their final game of the tournament against DePauw University at 1:30 p.m. that same day.

 Star of the Week Athletes for the week of March 3rd to March 9th:




Freshman Isabella Olmos received Women's Star of the Week honors. Olmos collected 11 hits, including 2 home runs and a double, and 5 RBIs over Softball's eight games.

 Junior Matthew Earley won Men's Star of the Week. Earley totaled 7 hits, including 2 doubles, and 6 RBIs over the week.
