Rosemont, Ill. – The Dominican University Softball team had their third doubleheader in four days Tuesday afternoon.
Game 1 Results:
Dominican: 11
Benedictine: 3
How it Happened:
-Both teams were held scoreless in the first inning, but Benedictine struck first in the top of the second scoring 2 runs on 4 hits.
-The Stars were able to respond in their half of the second with Sophomore
Kailee Diaz Randall hitting an RBI triple to deep center field that scored Freshman
Isabella Olmos.
-The Eagles brought their lead back to 2 in the top of the third inning scoring a run on a hit and taking advantage of a DU error.
-Dominican once again was able to respond in their half of the inning with Freshman
Raegyn Davis hitting an RBI single to center field that brought home Senior
Emma Woodhouse.
-The Stars took the lead in the fourth inning scoring 4 runs on 2 hits, and were able to take advantage of 2 Benedictine errors.
-The first two runs came off the bat of Woodhouse on a groundball to second base that rolled into right field scoring Freshman
Tamaih Jefferson and Junior
Leilani Guzman. Senior
Liliana Santoyo continued the train hitting a ball to short that brought home Woodhouse and Diaz Randall.
-DU's offense exploded in the bottom of the 6
th scoring 5 runs on 3 hits and once again taking advantage of an Eagle error.
-The first ball came off the bat of Woodhouse on a suicide squeeze that scored Senior
Hanna Voegtle from third base. Rae. Davis followed it up with a bases-clearing RBI triple to right field that brought home Santoyo, Woodhouse and, Senior
Gillian Czubernat. The final run of the game came off the bat of Olmos which brought home Freshman
Kayla Amormino.
Shining Stars:
-Senior
Emma Woodhouse improved her record to 8-3 and earned her 6
th straight win. Woodhouse pitched 7 innings only giving up 3 earned runs and adding 2 more strikeouts to her name. Not only was Woodhouse dominant in the circle, she went 1-3 with an RBI, and 3 runs scored.
-Freshman
Raegyn Davis exploded at the plate going 2-4 with 4 RBI and a triple.
-Freshman
Isabella Olmos has continued to be a huge vocal point of the DU offense going 2-3 with a walk, an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base.
-Sophomore
Kailee Diaz Randall found her stride again going 1-2 with an RBI, a run scored, and a triple.

How it Happened:
-The Eagles once again struck first in game two scoring a run on two hits in the top of the first inning.
-BenU would extend their lead to 2 runs on the third scoring a run on two hits.
-Dominican would get themselves on the board with Freshman
Kayla Amormino hitting an RBI single to right field that scored Senior
Priscylla Rutter.
-Benedictine pushed their lead out to 3 in the fourth inning scoring 2 runs on a hit.
-The Stars responded right back with Senior
Hanna Voegtle hitting an RBI triple to center field that scored Junior
Paytin Salfi and Sophomore
Kailee Diaz Randall.
-DU took the lead in the fifth scoring three runs on three hits.
-The first run of the inning came when Junior
Leilani Guzman intently got herself in a rundown to score Senior
Liliana Santoyo. Junior
Ryley Davis gave the Stars the lead right after hitting an RBI single to right field that scored Guzman. Senior
Gillian Czubernat gave the Stars some insurance runs with an RBI triple to center field that scored Freshman
Tamaih Jefferson.
-Dominican took a 6-4 lead into the 7
th inning when the Eagles hit back-to-back singles before DU brought in Senior
Emma Woodhouse to close the game out. Once Woodhouse entered the game she was able to get BenU three-up, three-down with a strikeout and to pop-outs.
Shining Stars:
-Sophomore
Liberty Rivard improved her record to 2-0 on the season as she pitched 3 scoreless innings picking up a strikeout, and only allowed 4 hits.
-Senior
Emma Woodhouse collected her 4
th save of the season in her 1 inning of work and picked up a strikeout.
-Freshman
Rhiannon Rubio started the game for the Stars going 3 innings and picked up 2 strikeouts.
-Freshman
Kayla Amormino led the stars at the plate going 2-4 with an RBI.
-Senior
Hanna Voegtle went 1-3 with 2 RBIs and a triple.
-Senior
Priscylla Rutter made her first start of the year and was incredible going 1-2 with a walk, a run scored, and a triple.
-Senior
Gillian Czubernat came in the game off the bench and went 1-1 with an RBI and a triple.
-Junior
Ryley Davis brought in the go-ahead and went 1-3 with an RBI in the game.
-Senior
Liliana Santoyo has continued her fantastic year at the plate going 1-3 with a walk and a run scored.

Paytin Salfi went 1-3 with a run scored and a double.

What's Next:
Dominican University Softball improves to 15-5 with a 7-1 record in the NACC and now the Stars currently are riding a 6-game win streak. DU will be right back at The Stadium at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex Saturday afternoon, as the Raiders of MSOE come to town. The first pitch between the two schools is set for 12:00 p.m.
