Chicago, Ill. – The Dominican University Women's Volleyball team continued their 6-match road trip with a non-conference battle at North Park University on Saturday night.
Match Results:

How It Happened:
-The Vikings jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the first set. Freshman
Angela Cuellar earned the first kill of the match for DU.
-The Vikings kept their foot on the gas, extending their lead to 12-7 and then 17-9 shortly after.
-Dominican continued to battle, though, with multiple runs in the middle to late portion of the set. The first 3-0 run was Seniors
Jillian Ross and Katie Ksiezak earning kills. Ross collected one, and Ksiezak added two on back-to-back attempts.
-The second run was a 4-0 run that brought the score back to 19-16 in favor of NPU. Senior
Lily Broderick added an ace during this run.
-North Park jumped back out to a 24-17 lead, where the Stars tried to fight back into the set. Senior
Jaylynn Miller collected a kill, and Freshman
Mawedda Abu-Shukhaidem added an ace. NPU wrapped up the set right after the ace, winning the first set 25-21.
-Dominican picked up 10 kills in the first set. Cuellar earned 2 kills, Miller added 3 kills, and Ksiezak collected 3 kills.
-The Vikings rolled in the second set, winning 25-12, and ended the set on an 8-0 run to take a 2-0 lead.
-Freshman
Gracelynn Perry earned a kill in the second set.
-North Park continued their run into the third set as they got to a 6-0 lead in the third set, this making the run a 14-0 run.
-Sophomore
Olivia Pollak ended the run by picking up the first point in the set for DU on a kill.
-This ignited a DU 5-0 run where Freshman
Kaitlyn Stanek earned a kill and Perry collected back-to-back aces.
-The two schools traded points in the middle portion of the set until NPU scored 6 of the final 8 points to win the match 3-0 and win the set 25-18.
Shining Stars:
-Senior
Jaylynn Miller led the team in kills with 6 of them on 19 attacks.
-Senior
Kathryn Ksiezak earned 4 kills and 2 digs.
-Sophomore
Olivia Pollak was all over the court with 3 kills, 8 assists, and 4 digs.
-Freshman
Gracelynn Perry played well, adding a kill, 2 assists, 2 aces, and 12 digs.

What's Next:
Dominican University Women's Volleyball falls to 0-15 on the season. The Stars will be back on the road October 8th for a conference battle against Rockford University. The first serve between the Stars and Regents is set for 7:00 p.m.
