Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Stars Roll Over the Spartans On the Road

Aurora, Ill. – The Dominican University Women's Soccer team extends their win streak to four games in a row after a road win at Aurora University.

How It Happened: 
-DU got the momentum going right away with Senior Meghan Wilhite firing a shot on goal in the first minute of the game. Junior Gianna Stanek prevented the Spartans from taking a lead with her save.  

-Freshman Jailyn Gallegos found the ball and delivered a shot on goal in the bottom left corner which was deflected by the goalkeeper and found Gallegos again where she found the back of the net to tally her first collegiate goal, making the score 1-0.  

-Dominican kept the pressure on offense, with Gallegos having another shot on goal, followed by a shot on goal from Junior Tia Garr to end the first half, with the Stars leading 1-0.  

-DU did not stop rolling in the second half. In the 49th minute of the game, Graduate Student Sierra Rioux recorded her 3rd goal of the season to extend their lead to 2-0, Junior Presley Coles earned the assist on the goal. Freshman Kaylie Reeve found the ball and delivered a shot in the bottom right corner but was stopped by the Aurora goalkeeper.  

-Senior Mackenzie Cuddihy has been a rock in the back row for the Stars but was able to pop a shot on goal at the bottom center of the net which was saved.  

-Dominican continued to be aggressive with Garr, shooting her 2nd shot of the night, which found the back of the net, giving the Stars some insurance. DU leads Aurora 3-0 in the 63rd minute.  

-Sophomore Liliana Arechiga was aggressive off the bench, collecting the final shot on goal for the Stars.  

-Dominican's defense shone in the win and only allowed the Spartans one shot in the whole game.  

 
 
Shining Stars: 
-Junior Tia Garr earned Star of the Match and found the back of the net for her 4th goal of the season. Garr also had 2 shots on goal. 

-Freshman Jailyn Gallegos recorded her first collegiate goal and had 3 shots on target.  

-Graduate Student Sierra Rioux has continued to lead her team to success, Rioux scored her 3rd goal of the season and had 1 shot with it being on target.  

-Senior Meghan Wilhite had a shot on target. 

-Freshman Kaylie Reeve has continued her outstanding freshman year, Reeve had two shots and one shot on target.  

-Senior Mackenzie Cuddihy recorded her 2nd shot on goal this season and played all 90 minutes.  

-Sophomore Liliana Arechiga had a shot on target.  

-Junior Gianna Stanek had a save and recorded 90 minutes.

What's Next: 
Dominican University Women's Soccer improves to 7-2-2 (5-1 NACC) on the season. The Stars will be right back in action this Saturday, October 10th, as they host Edgewood University. Kick-off between the Stars and the Eagles is set for 2:45 p.m. at West Campus Field.
