Men's Basketball Turns Attention to Illinois Tech

Chicago, Ill. – Dominican University Men's Basketball begins a three-game road swing at Illinois Tech on Wednesday night.

Series History vs. Illinois Tech:
All-Time Record / Streak: 5-8 / W2
-Dominican and Illinois Tech first played on 11/30/2016 in River Forest, Ill. (W, 74-73).
-The Stars took down the Scarlet Hawks in their only meeting last season in River Forest on 1/22/2025 (81-58).
-Dominican's longest win streak Illinois Tech spanned two games from 1/10/2024 – Present.
-DU averages 63.92 points per game against IIT and is 1-6 on the road.

DU in Review:
-The Stars are 1-18 (1-11 NACC) on the 2025-2026 season.
-DU is 1-10 at home this campaign.
-Dominican closed the 2024-2025 season with an 8-17 record, including going 5-13 in conference and 5-8 at home.
-The Stars missed out on the NACC Tournament last season and are looking to make it back into the playoff picture for the first time since the 2021-2022 season.
-Head Coach Troy Tonsil enters his 3rd season at the helm of the Men's Basketball program at Dominican. Tonsil has amassed a career record of 18-32.

 
Last Time Out:
 -The Stars' late comeback effort came up short to Edgewood on Saturday, falling by a final score of 72-69.
 -Sophomore Frank Paszkowski registered a team-leading 18 points and knocked down 4-10 threes.
-Sophomore Braydon Murphy notched his 4th double-double of the season with 15 points and 14 rebounds.
-Sophomore Ismael Ndiaye Matheu posted 13 points and was a perfect 5-5 from the line.

Shining Stars:
-Sophomore Braydon Murphy is averaging almost a double-double this season, leading the team in rebounds per game with 8.6, and is 4th in points per game with 12.1. Murphy also leads DU in blocks with 28 and is 2nd in assists with 35. The Senior is 1st in the NACC in blocks and is 4th in the conference in rebounds per game.
-Freshman Elijah Daugherty has provided a spark off the bench for Dominican this season. Daugherty is averaging 12.9 points per game and is shooting .421 from the field.
-Sophomore Frank Paszkowski leads the Stars in three-pointers made with 55 and is shooting .357 behind the arc while dropping 14.9 points per game. Paszkowski leads the conference in three-pointers made.
-Sophomore Ismael Ndiaye Matheu has paced the Stars in playmaking, tallying a team-high 37 assists on the season.
-Senior Adrian Pelszynski rounds out the top five in scoring for DU, dropping an average of 8.4 points per game.

Familiar Faces:
-Senior Dominic Crapia enters his 4th season as a reliable 3-point shooter for the Stars. Crapia shot .359 from beyond the arc in 2024-25 and is in the joint lead in returners with 28 3-pointers made.
-Sophomore Lucas Underwood had a successful start to his collegiate career last campaign, averaging 5.6 points per game and had 28 3-pointers made.
-Senior Adrian Pelszynski will return as an integral part of Dominican's frontcourt. Pelszynski averaged 13.2 minutes per game last year alongside 4.5 points per game.
-Sophomore Braydon Murphy looks to improve upon a strong freshman season, as the center chipped in 2.7 points per game alongside 2.5 rebounds per game in a more limited role.  

Scouting Report:
-Illinois Tech is 5-15 (3-10 NACC) on the 2025-2026 season.
-The Scarlet Hawks are 3-9 at home.
-IIT has dropped five straight games, with its last win coming on Wednesday, January 14th, against Concordia Chicago.
-The Scarlet Hawks average 68.8 points per game, shoot .432 from the field, .288 from three, and average 31.3 rebounds per game.
