Stars Take Care of Business against Wabash

River Forest, Ill. – Dominican University Men's Volleyball faced off against Wabash College for the first match of a double-header on Saturday.
 
 Results:
  Dominican: 3
  Wabash: 0

  How it Happened:
-The Stars started the match behind 7-5, but a pair of errors for Wabash leveled the score at 7-7.
-After the Little Giants took a 14-13 lead, Junior Thomas Hirsch sparked a 4-0 DU run, which included a block and a kill by Senior Michael Greco.
-Dominican held its nerve and took the opening set by a score of 25-20. Sophomore Kendall Esparza totaled 3 kills in the opener.
-Esparza and Junior Ty Geschke came out firing in the second set, propelling the Stars to a 7-5 advantage.
-Wabash fought back to knot the set up at 11-11 before DU sprang a 3-0 run through strong serving by Hirsch.
-After Dominican surged out to a 21-16 lead after a kill by Graduate Student Casey Goss, the Stars traded side outs with the Little Giants and took the second set by a score of 25-20. Goss had 3 kills in the middle frame.
-A blistering start to the third set gave DU a 7-1 lead.
-Wabash clawed their way back into the set, eventually cutting the Dominican lead to 12-11.
-Geschke sparked the Stars' attack, notching 3 kills in the span of 6 points to re-establish Dominican's hold on the set.
-The Stars closed out the match on a 5-0 run after Wabash knotted the set up at 20-20 and took the third by a score of 25-20.
-Dominican hit at a clip of .286 and amassed 7 aces and 5 blocks.

  Shining Stars:
-Sophomore Kendall Esparza posted a team-leading 10 kills along with 2 blocks and an ace.
-Junior Thomas Hirsch notched 8 kills on .500 hitting and added 3 blocks and 2 aces.
-Graduate Student Casey Goss tallied 6 kills on .400 hitting.
-Sophomore Landon Kassulke dished 22 assists in the victory.
- Junior Grant Henderson registered 6 digs.

  What's Next:
Dominican University Men's Volleyball improves to 6-1 (1-0 NACC) on the 2026 season. The Stars will take the court in the second match of Saturday's double-header against Mount Union at 4:00 p.m.
