River Forest, Ill. – No. 20 Dominican University Men's Volleyball hosted Benedictine in a Blue Out on Wednesday night in a bid to extend its win streak to six matches.

How it Happened:
-In a packed house, the first set opened with neither Dominican nor Benedictine able to gain a substantial lead, as a block by Sophomore
Landon Diaz and Graduate Student
Casey Goss brought the Stars to within one, trailing 7-6.
-Both squads would continue to trade side outs up to 12-12, but the Eagles built a 4-0 run to gain the largest lead of the match.
-Trailing 20-16, Sophomore
Kendall Esparza went on a 4-0 run from the line to even the set at 20-20. The run included a kill and a block by Junior
Ty Geschke.
-Geschke recorded three more kills and a pair of aces down the stretch of the first set, as the Stars took down Benedictine 27-25 in the opener. The Racine, Wisconsin native posted 8 kills and 2 aces in the opening stanza.
-DU used this momentum to take a 7-2 lead in the opening points of the second set, which saw Junior
Thomas Hirsch collect a pair of kills.
-The Eagles began to storm back, as Dominican's lead was cut to 13-11.
-Clutch hitting by Goss and Hirsch, as well as an ace by Freshman
Eli Rodda, gave the Stars breathing room in the second, who were now up 22-17.
-A solo block by Geschke sealed the second set for DU by a final score of 25-20. Hirsch recorded 7 kills in the middle frame.
-Set 3 began with each team trading 3-0 runs from behind the line, knotting the score at 7-7.
-Geschke then put together a 4-0 run, supported by kills from Goss and Geschke and a block by Diaz.
-Dominican pressed its advantage to 18-11 with Geschke and Esparza combining for three kills.
-The Stars were able to hold the Eagles at bay, taking the third set and the match by a final score of 25-17. This win marks DU's sixth win in a row, their longest of the season, and was the third sweep in that span.

Thomas Hirsch earned Star of the Match honors with 13 kills on .813 hitting, marking his best hitting percentage in a match with more than 10 attempts.

Ty Geschke registered 13 kills, 3 aces, 3 blocks, and 4 digs.
-Sophomore
Landon Diaz posted a team-high 6 blocks.
-Sophomore
Landon Kassulke dished 37 assists in the victory.
-Junior
Grant Henderson led the Stars defensively with 7 digs.

What's Next:
No. 20 Dominican University Men's Volleyball improved to 18-5 (9-2 NACC) on the 2026 season. The Stars will wrap up the regular season at home with Senior Night against Wisconsin Lutheran on Saturday, April 4
th. The match against the Warriors will begin at 1:00 p.m.
