Lake Forest, Ill.—The Dominican University Softball team hit the road for their final regular series of the 2026 season. The Stars traveled to Lake Forest College to play the Foresters in the non-conference game.

How it Happened:
- The Stars went three up and three down in the top of the first inning, and this propelled Lake Forest to score 2 runs on 3 hits in the inning.
-The Foresters kept the momentum rolling in the bottom of the second inning by adding another 2 runs on 2 hits in the inning.
-LFC took a 4-0 lead into the third inning, where Dominican drew a two-out walk, but nothing more.
-The Stars threatened in the top of the fifth inning and the sixth inning by getting runners on the corners in both innings but nothing to show for it.
-After two straight innings of posing a threat to score, DU went 1-2-3 in the top of the 7
th inning to fall 4-0.

Isabella Olmos went 1-3 with a walk.

Rhiannon Rubio went 4 scoreless innings and collected 4 strikeouts in her outing.

How it Happened:
-After a scoreless first inning, the Foresters put up a 5 spot on 5 hits in the second inning.
-Dominican responded by scoring a run with Senior
Paytin Salfi hitting an RBI single to left field that scored Freshman
Isabella Olmos, who reached on a two-out triple.
-The score remained 5-1 in favor of LFC until the bottom of the fifth when Lake Forest hit a solo homerun.
-Dominican would not put up a real threat to score either in the 6
th and 7
th to get swept by LFC.

Dominican University Softball finishes the regular season with a 25-15 overall record and 19-5 in the NACC play. The Stars officially clinched a spot as NACC Regular Season Conference Champions. DU will have a long break before playing in the NACC Conference Tournament and await their official seed, opponent, and date. The conference tournament start date is set for May 8
th at Aurora University.
