Waverly, Iowa – #4-seeded Dominican University Softball faced off against regional-host and #2-seeded Wartburg in an elimination game of the NCAA DIII Softball Tournament on Friday.

-After Sophomore
Rhiannon Rubio held the Knights scoreless at the top of the first, the Stars took a 1-0 lead at the bottom of the inning as a single by Sophomore
Raegyn Davis led to a RBI-double by Senior
Ryley Davis.
-Both Dominican and Wartburg held each other scoreless in the second and third innings.
-At the top of the fourth, the Knights found their offensive rhythm, as the hosts jumped out to a 6-1 lead over DU.
-Looking to respond at the bottom of the fourth, singles by Freshman

Madisen Butler compounded into a two-RBI double by Junior
Kailee Diaz Randall, cutting the Stars' deficit to 6-3.

Liberty Rivard, who entered the game in relief of Rubio, held Wartburg scoreless in the fifth, and DU capitalized. With the bases loaded at the bottom of the fifth, a sacrifice fly by Junior
Emme Slavens launched a sacrifice fly that scored Senior
Paytin Salfi, bringing Dominican within two.
-Wartburg responded with a pair of runs at the top of the sixth.
-The Stars searched for a late rally, but the DU bats were silenced by the Knights' pitching.
-Dominican fell by a final score of 8-4 and had its season end in the Waverly Regional.
