River Forest, Ill.—The Dominican University Department of Athletics and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics,
Dr. John Planek, have announced the promotion of
Brian Carter as athletics operations manager.
Carter, a Lockport native, graduated from Dominican University in May 2026 with his master's and was the graduate assistant for athletics communications.
Carter received his bachelor's in communications with minors in business and public relations at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He earned his degree in May of 2024. While being a student at Champaign, he interned for the athletic communication department and was responsible for the statistical duties for the Fighting Illini's women's volleyball and women's basketball home contests.

Brian Carter by saying, "
Brian Carter has been an integral part of our athletic department for the past two years, and I am pleased that he will remain with us in this new capacity as we continue to strive to serve our student athletes and staff."
Director of Athletic Communications Chris Randel commented on the promotion of
Brian Carter by saying, "Brian is one of the most deserving individuals for this position. His hard work, dedication, determination, and desire to learn something new every day are truly unmatched. In just two short years, Brian has developed a genuine passion for Dominican, its student-athletes, and the entire athletic department. His commitment to serving others and helping the department succeed is evident in everything he does. I have no doubt that he will excel in this role and make a lasting, positive impact."
Carter commented on the full-time role by saying, "I am incredibly excited to rejoin the Dominican University Athletics staff in a full-time capacity. The relationships I have built with the coaches, administrators, and staff over the past two years as the graduate assistant for athletic communications are something I have cherished, and I hope to continue to expand upon those moving forward. Additionally, I aim to provide the best possible experience Dominican Athletics can offer for student-athletes, fans, alumni, faculty, staff, and students."
