Milwaukee, WI. – The Dominican University Women's Volleyball team traveled to Milwaukee for Day 1 of the MSOE Raider Invite Friday night.
Match One Results:
Dominican: 0
Loras: 3
How it Happened:
-DU started off strong by getting on the board early from a kill by Junior Ella Murray but wasn't able to keep up with Loras. The Stars lost set one, 25-8.
-Dominican kept it close coming from a block by Senior Kathryn Ksiezak and a kill by Murray.
-Sophomore Olivia Pollak came up huge for DU by tying the set with a kill and then taking the lead with two service aces.
-The Stars continued to go back and forth with the Duhawks, with Murray firing 5 kills, but lost the second set 25-22.
-DU came from behind in third set but tied it 12-12 with a service ace from Freshman Valeria Garcia. Loras ended up taking the lead.
-Dominican dropped the third set 25-16.
Shining Stars:
-Junior Ella Murray led her team with 7 kills.
-Freshman Mawedda Abu-Shukhaidem had 12 assists.
-Senior Kathryn Ksiezak collected 2 solo blocks and 1 block assist.
-Sophomore Olivia Pollak helped her team all around with 5 kills, 6 assists, and 4 digs.

Match Two Results:
Dominican: 0
Grinnell: 3
How it Happened:
-DU fought hard with the Pioneers going back and forth with Senior Jillian Ross taking the lead with a kill.
-The Stars got back even with back-to- kills from Ksiezak and Murray. DU could not keep their lead and lost set one 25-21.
-DU took the lead early starting with an ace by Abu-Shukhaidem, followed by 3 service aces from Freshman Angela Cuellar.
-Dominican got on a role leading the set 24-22 but fell behind losing the set 26-24.
-Dominican jumped out to a 15-10 lead after a kill on an overpass by Geschke.
-The Stars kept it close with two kills from Pollak. The Pioneers then took the lead in the third set and kept it, finishing the game 25-14.
Shining Stars:
-Sophomore Karolina Stonkus collected 4 kills in the match.
-Senior Kathryn Ksiezak had 3 kills and a solo block.
-Sophomore Olivia Pollak fired 3 kills while leading her team with 14 digs.
-Freshman Mawedda Abu-Shukhaidem helped her team with 6 assists and 2 service aces.

What's Next:
Dominican University Women's Volleyball falls to 0-4 on the season. The Stars will head back to Milwaukee Saturday mornng to finish up the MSOE Raider Invite. They will face Marian University at 10:00 a.m. and Knox College at 12:00 p.m.
