A.J. Compton comes to Dominican University as an assistant baseball coach on head coach Steve Hardman’s staff.  Compton comes to Dominican on the heels of a successful playing career of his own at NCAA Division III Elmhurst College where he was selected to the CCIW All-Conference 1st Team and ABCA 2nd Team All-Central Region as an outfielder following his senior season.
 
At Elmhurst, Compton posted a career .310 batting average with 11 home runs and 36 doubles to go along with a .970 fielding percentage. As a captain in 2017, Compton helped the Bluejays to a 21-18 mark, posting a .351 batting average with seven home runs, 12 doubles, and 36 RBIs, ranking second on the team in each category.
 
Following the season, Compton joined the Illinois Indians as a head coach of the travel baseball club’s 16U team.
