Ben Boyd, a member of the 2003 Dominican University Stars’ men’s soccer team and 2007 graduate of Dominican University, has been as an assistant on head coach Erick Baumann’s men’s soccer staff since the 2013 season.
In the spring of 2019, Boyd was promoted to full-time status in the department adding the role of Coordinator of Athletic Facilities to his duties.
Working primarily with the Stars’ goalkeepers, Boyd helped Daniel Dominguez earn a second team All-NACC selection in 2018 and a first team All-NACC honor in 2019. In 2019, Dominguez posted a NACC-best 0.72 goals against average with seven shutouts in 19 matches contributing to a defense that allowed just 29 shots on goal throughout the entire 11-match NACC regular season.
In addition to his work with the Stars, Boyd has accumulated coaching experience at several different levels. He spent seven years working with PAWS Goalkeeper Academy helping the development of hundreds of goalkeepers in the Chicagoland area, many that have gone on to play in college.
Beyond Dominican and PAWS, Boyd's experience includes Nazareth High School, the Chicago Magic-PSG Academy and the University of St. Francis where Boyd served three seasons as an assistant coach with the women’s soccer program. In 2014, Boyd’s expertise earned him a trip to Sweden where he worked with Kvarnsvedens IK, a Swedish pro club of the women's Elitettan league and men's Division 2 Norra Svealand. He has also won the 2018 United States Youth Soccer U19 Club National Championship with the NSA Shock (Naperville Soccer Association).
Boyd has a USSF National “A” License and NSCAA Advanced National Goalkeeping Diploma.
