Ben Boyd, a member of the 2003 Dominican University Stars’ men’s soccer team and 2007 graduate of Dominican University, is back for his third season as an assistant on head coach Erick Baumann’s men’s soccer staff.
Working primarily with the Stars’ goalkeepers over the last two seasons, Boyd helped the Stars to a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) best 0.85 goals against average over 31 games. The Stars have posted 17 total shutouts during the stretch, good for a 0.54 shutout percentage.
In addition to his work with the Stars, Boyd is a staff coach and the South Director at PAWS Goalkeeper Academy. There Boyd is responsible for running weekly training sessions and maintaining the academy’s website.
Beyond Dominican and PAWS, Boyd has extensive experience at nearly every level of soccer, including Nazareth High School, the Chicago Magic-PSG Academy and the University of St. Francis where Boyd served three seasons as an assistant coach with the women’s soccer program. During the summer of 2014, Boyd’s expertise earned him a trip to Sweden where he worked with Kvarnsvedens IK, a Swedish pro club of the women's Elitettan league and men's Division 2 Norra Svealand. Throughout the 2015 summer, Boyd joined the staff at FC Indiana, a semi-professional team, helping the Lions’ starting goalkeeper earn a tryout with a professional club in Germany. Additionally, Boyd is a staff member at Camp Shutout, the world’s largest goalkeeper camp.
Boyd has earned his USSF National “A” License and NSCAA Advanced National Goalkeeping Diploma.
