Derek Jensen returns to the Dominican University men’s volleyball staff for his second season as an assistant coach under Dan Ames.
Jensen, a former NCAA Division I athlete at Loyola University in Chicago where he starred from 2005-2009 with the Ramblers men’s volleyball team, possesses coaching experience at both the collegiate and club levels, including a season as an assistant coach at Loyola.
Currently, Jensen is the director and boys’ club Master Coach at Division 1 VBC which has locations in Skokie, Palos Heights and Morton Grove in Illinois. Together the clubs include 30 teams and over 300 athletes ranging in ages from 12-18.
As a volleyball player, Jensen was a three-time team captain team captain for the Ramblers and voted the team’s 2006 Most Improved Player. Prior to Loyola, Jensen was a three-time DuPage Valley Conference all-conference selection at West Chicago High School where he led the team in assists, kills, digs and aces in back-to-back seasons.
A product of Sports Performance Volleyball Club in Aurora, Jensen was a two-time USAV All-American honoree, helping his club to two top-five finishes and a national runner-up in the 16s, 17s and 18s open divisions.
