George Kougan joined the DU men's volleyball coaching staff as an assistant coach in 2023. Kougan works primarily with Pin attackers, and also assists in opponent scout and recruiting.
In his first season with the Stars, he helped guide the Stars to a NACC Regular Season and Tournament Conference Championship and into the NCAA Round of 16. He was part of the NACC Coaching Staff of the Year, and also mentored Casey Goss during his breakout year in which he collected NACC Player of the Year and AVCA All American Honorable Mention Honors.
Kougan is one of the most decorated players in Stars history and he is a 2022 graduate. Kougan was a member of the 2022 NCAA Semi Final Finish Team and the 2022 NACC Conference Championship team. He was 2021 First Team AVCA All American, 2022 Second Team AVCA All American, 2020, 2021, 2022 AVCA All Region Team, 2020,2021, and 2022 NACC First-Team All-Conference. He currently Plays in the Volleyball League of America with the Chicago Sweed.
