Phil Sassone comes to the Dominican University softball coaching staff with years of experience at both the club and high school levels.
Most recently, Sassone founded and served as the president of the Elmwood Park Lady Tigers Softball Club Team that he grew from one team in 1997 to five teams ranging from 10U to 18U in 2012. Under his guidance, the Lady Tigers placed fifth and seventh nationally the last two summers (2011, 2012) nationally and won the 2012 USSSA State Tournament with the 18U squad. Outside of the team success, Sassone’s clubs have helped place over 20 former players in college programs, including three in 2012.
At the high school level, Sassone served as an assistant coach with the varsity softball team at Elmwood Park High School from 2005-2011. In seven seasons, Sassone helped guide the Tigers to five IHSA Class 3A regional championships and two IHSA 3A sectional championships with a pair of fifth place finishes in state in 2009 and 2011.
