Dominican University Athletics

Scott Plaza comes to Dominican after a stint at Harper College where he served as the head softball coach for three seasons while holding additional responsibilities including athletics assistant, sports information director and assistant basketball coach.  During his tenure as the Hawks’ head softball coach, Plaza was responsible for recruiting quality student-athletes, coaching a pair of all-conference and four all-region student-athletes while setting the program record for wins in 2017.
 
As a collegiate baseball player, Plaza starred two seasons for the Harper College Hawks before heading to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater where he would post a 15-3 record and 2.59 earned run average over two seasons for the Warhawks, culminating in a complete-game shutout in the championship game of the 2014 NCAA Division III College World Series.
 
Following his collegiate playing career, Plaza had a stint with the Schaumburg Boomers cut short in 2015 due to injury before playing with the Sonoma Stompers of the Pacific Association in 2017 and the Gary Railcats of the American Association in 2018.
 
At Dominican, Plaza will be tasked with recruiting to and coaching Dominican’s newest and 14^th NCAA varsity sport in women’s bowling which will begin competing during the Fall of 2019 while also helping with the Dominican University softball program.
