A product of Maine East High School in nearby Park Ridge, David Kay joined the Dominican University's women's basketball staff as an assistant coach in 2019.

A three-sport standout for the Blue Demons (basketball, baseball and football), Kay went on to play basketball at Harper College before moving to Quincy University. Following college, Kay has worked as a coach and personal trainer, including an 11-year stint at Joy of the Game and current positions at All In Athletics in Deerfield, Illinois and Lifetime Fitness.
