Gabby Johnson, a former standout point guard at Division III Thomas More College, returns for her third season as the head coach at Dominican University after taking over the Stars' women's basketball program in 2012-2013. Prior to her arrival in River Forest, Johnson spent two seasons as an assistant coach with the Northern Kentucky women's basketball program under legendary coach Nancy Winstel.
During Johnson's time with Northern Kentucky, the Norse posted a 39-17 overall mark and an at-large berth in the NCAA Division II National Tournament. Â With the Norse, Johnson was responsible for guard development and assisted with on-floor coaching, practice planning and student-athlete recruitment.
As a collegiate basketball player, Jonson helped the Thomas More Saints to three straight NCAA Division III National Tournament appearances and earned honorable mention All-President's Athletic Conference honors twice and ranks third on the Saints' all-time assists list with 320 career assists.
Following her playing career, Johnson returned to the Saints' bench as an assistant coach for the 2009-10 season and helped Thomas More to a 26-4 mark and the program's fourth consecutive national tournament appearance.
