Megan Sparks, a 2006 graduate of Eastern Illinois University, was a four-year letterwinner with the Panthers' women's basketball program and currently ranks 10th all-time on the EIU scoring list.
As a senior captain for the 2005-2006 season, Sparks led the Panthers back to the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Tournament for the first time since 2003 as she averaged a team-high 15.9 points per game, earning Second Team All-OVC honors. That season, Sparks started all 29 of EIU's games, logging 35-plus minutes in 20 contests.
For her collegiate career, Sparks became just the second player at Eastern Illinois with over 1,000 points, 100 three-pointers and 300 free throws. In fact, Sparks logged 1,313 career points, while shooting over 31 percent from behind the three-point stripe and over 78 percent from the foul line. She averaged 12.0 points per game in 109 games for the Panthers, starting 87 games throughout her four-year career.
Following her playing career with the Panthers, Sparks joined the EIU Women's Basketball coaching staff for the 2006-2007 season. On the court, Sparks was responsible for the guard play, helping develop a backcourt that started two freshmen guards that combined to average over 26 points per game.
