Shannon English was a standout women’s basketball player at Elmhurst College, lettering with the Bluejays for three seasons in the early 1990’s.  English still holds the Elmhurst record for steals in a game setting the record with nine steals against the North Park Vikings and then tying that mark with nine steals against William Penn the following season.  For her career, the Chicago native ranks third on the Bluejays all-time list with 208 steals in three seasons.
                                                 
Since 2004, English has served as a Park Supervisor for the Chicago Park District, including stops at Kelly Park, Pottawattomie Park and Holstein Park.  Her stop at Field Park coincided with a stint as the 7th grade girls’ basketball coach at Field Middle School in Northbrook, Ill.
