Since coming to Dominican as an assistant coach prior to the 2017 season, Cameron Andrew has elevated the Stars’ women’s volleyball program to new heights. After the Stars endured a 12-21 season the year prior, Andrew helped the Stars improve to a 17-13 mark in 2017 before taking over the reins of the program in December of 2017.
In his first season as a collegiate head coach, Andrew guided the Stars to a 20-10 campaign and a third-place finish in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC). The Stars improved upon their strong 2018 season and in Andrew's second year at the helm finished the 2019 season with a 23-7 record, marking the second year in a row they reached the 20-win mark.
In Andrew's fourth season, the Stars finished the year with a 13-3 overall record, capturing the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) South Division title. Four Stars were recgonized with all conference honors with Sarah Lychock was recognized as the South Division Defensive Player of the Year.
Under Andrew, the Stars have seen libero Megan Parker garner the 2018 NACC Defensive Player of the Year honor and rightside Gaija Sinickaite earn the league's Freshman of the Year award in 2018. Following the team’s successful 2018 campaign, Andrew garnered his own recognition, being named to the AVCA Thirty Under 30, recognizing him as an up and coming coach in the college volleyball world.
In the summer of 2019, the department of athletics turned to Andrew to be the head coach of the Stars’ nationally-ranked men’s volleyball program.
Despite the 2020 season being cut short due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Andrew's first season with the Stars was a dominant one. The program finished the year with a 13-2 record which was highlighted by a 12 game winning streak to start the year. Individual honors included Stars' players Jack McGuire and Matt Molloy earning conference's Player of the Year and Co-Defensive Player of the Year, respectively, while Ethan Klosak earned the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Man of the Year for the 2019-20 academic year. As a team, the program garnered the American Volleyball Coaches Association 2019-2020 Team Academic award.
In Andrew's second season, success repeated itself as the Stars posted a 17-2 overall record securing the NACC South Division title and a berth in the NCAA tournament. The Stars would land themselves in the FInal Four for the second time in the last three full seasons while also finishing as high as #3 in the nation. Under Andrew's watch George Kougan and Jack McGuire would earn a NVA/AVCA All-American award. McGuire would also be named NACC Player of the Year while four more Stars would have conference honors.
Andrew came to Dominican University after a four-year stint at Rhodes College where he helped head coach Kait Harris lead the Lynx to their most successful season since 2007 when they finished 12-12 in 2016. During his time at Rhodes, Andrew helped develop 15 All-Southern Athletic Association athletes.
In addition to his experience at Rhodes, Andrew was a member of the coaching staff for High Intensity Volleyball Club in 2010 and 2011. His teams participated in National Qualifiers in Anaheim, CA and USAV National Championship tournaments in Austin, TX and Minneapolis, MN. Additionally, he coached for four years with the Memphis Juniors Volleyball Association, where he coached the 16U and 18U teams.
As a student, Andrew was a four-year member of Juniata’s men’s volleyball program and served as a captain during his senior season. Andrew helped lead the Eagles to a berth in the NCAA tournament in 2013. As a junior, Cameron was named to the All-Tournament Team of the Continental Volleyball Conference Championships.
