Evelyn Gamboa

Evelyn Gamboa, a four-year letterwinner with the Stars’ volleyball program, joins head coach Ryan Baumgartner’s coaching staff as an assistant for the 2012 season.  Gamboa, a 2008 Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) All-Freshman Team member, has been coaching at the high school and club levels since 2008.  Currently, the Chicago native is the head boys’ volleyball varsity coach at John F. Kennedy High School.  Gamboa has also served as the girls’ volleyball club coach for the Chicago Shamrocks since 2008 as well as working at Skyhawk’s Sports Academy and has conducted summer volleyball camps at Josefa Ortiz de Dominiguez.

As a collegiate player, Gamboa amassed 681 kills, 84 service aces and 129 total blocks in 115 career matches for the Stars.  As a freshman, she posted career bests in kills (262), digs (222), aces (44) and solo blocks (20).  During her time with the Stars, Dominican won two NAC regular season titles (2009, 2011) and one NAC Tournament crown (2010) leading to the Stars’ lone NCAA Division III National Tournament appearance.
