The Dominican University men’s soccer team rolled over neighborhood rival Concordia University Chicago, 4-0 on Wednesday afternoon to remain undefeated on the season, improving to 14-0-1 overall and 8-0-1 in Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) play.
Sophomore
Leo Elizalde (Waukegan, Ill.) netted the eventual game-winner in the 21
st minute, receiving a cross from freshman
Trent Miller (Rockford, Ill.) before beating the Cougars’ goalkeeper for his sixth score of the season.
Six minutes later, the Stars’ offense struck again, as senior
Mike Kapusta (Bartlett, Ill.) dribbled around a Cougar defender before ripping a shot into the back of the net from twenty yards out. Kapusta, the Stars’ leading scorer on the season with 31 points, now has 11 goals.
Less than one minute later,
Lio Tovar (Cicero, Ill.) netted his sixth goal of the season with an assist from
Nick Kulas (Park Ridge, Ill.). Then in the 37
th minute, Tovar returned the favor, assisting on Kulas’ first goal of the season.
Dominican stuffed the stat sheet, getting off 21 shots while surrendering just three shots to the Cougars.
Dominican, with three games remaining in the regular season, travels to Milwaukee, Wis., on Saturday to take on the MSOE Raiders.
