Stars Cruise Past Lakeland In NAC Action

The Dominican University men’s basketball team lead by 27 at the break and cruised to an 83-62 win over the Lakeland College Muskies in Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) men’s basketball action on Saturday evening.
The Muskies opened a 5-0 lead in the first minute of the game, but Dominican scored 16 of the next 19 points to take a 16-8 lead and never looked back.
Marquis Turley (Grand Rapids, Mich.) led four players in double figures for the Stars, scoring a game-high 21 points on 7-for-8 shooting from the field and converting on 6-of-7 attempts from the charity stripe. Freshman Taylor DeRoo (Holland, Mich.) chipped in a career-high 13 points on 5-for-7 shooting in the winning effort while Logan Harris (Pleasant Plains, Ill.) and Milos Mandic (Munster, Ind.) added ten points apiece.
As a team, Dominican shot over 51 percent from the field (30-58), including shooting at a 57.1 percent clip in the first half, while holding the Muskies to 31.7 percent shooting.
The win improves the Stars to 4-3 on the season and 2-0 in NAC play. Dominican returns to NAC action next week, traveling to Rockford College on Wednesday before hosting the Maranatha Baptist Bible College Crusaders next Saturday.
