River Forest, Ill. - The Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) released the 2010 Men's Basketball All-NAC Teams with Dominican University's Marquis Turley (Grand Rapids, Mich.) garnering First Team All-Conference honors. Turley, the Stars' leading scorer and second leading scorer in the NAC, led the Stars to championship game of the 2010 NAC Men's Basketball Tournament after claiming the final spot in the eight-team tournament on the final day of regular season play.
In 27 games, Turley averaged 20.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. His 564 points this season is the second-best single-season scoring performance in NAC history, behind Larry Welton's (Aurora University) 584 points in 2007. In addition, the Stars' 6'1" junior guard tied the school's single-game scoring record with a 45-point performance against Greenville College on January 4, tying the 18-year old record set by Ed Stritzel. In that game Turley went 15-of-22 from the field, including 7-of-10 from long distance, and 8-of-9 from the free throw line.
Within the NAC, Turley ranked in the top ten in six statistical categories including leading the conference in free throw percentage at 86.6% from the charity stripe. Turley also ranked second in points per game, fourth in minutes played, sixth in assists per game, seventh in three-point field goal percentage and eighth in assist-to-turnover ratio.
