Aurora, Ill. - The Dominican University women's tennis team dropped their final dual match of the 2009 Fall season 9-0 to Aurora University on Tuesday afternoon. The Stars fell to 7-9 on the season and 5-6 in the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC), and will enter the conference championships in a tie for sixth place.
In doubles play, the Stars posted a 13-26 overall record in dual play, led by the team of Andrea Body (Palos Heights, Ill.) and Kaitlyn Seldal (Oak Lawn, Ill.), who posted a 4-8 mark as the Stars' number one doubles team. In Tuesday's match against Aurora, the pair was topped by the Spartans' number one doubles team of Lauren Hastings and Rebecca Papke that went 7-4 in NAC play by a score of 8-4.
In singles play, Seldal closed out the 2009 Fall season with a 3-6 record in conference play as the Stars' number one singles, falling in straight sets 6-0, 6-2 to Aurora's Lindsey Coakley. The Stars best singles record of the fall came in the sixth singles flight from Bethany Ortiz (Belvidere, Ill.). Ortiz finishes the conference season with a 6-2 record after falling to Aurora's Macy Pruett 6-0, 6-0.
The Stars will open play in the NAC Championships on Saturday, October 3, and then close out the NAC Championships on Sunday, October 4, in Madison, Wis.
