Rosa Andreuccetti (Elmhurst, Ill.) tallied the lone goal of the game, scoring on a penalty kick in the 14th minute of play, as the Dominican University Stars topped the North Park University Vikings in non-conference women’s soccer action on Thursday afternoon.
Freshman Ashley Meyer (Evanston, Ill.) weaved her way into the box before a Viking defender, Meyer had just beat, pulled her down in the box to give the Stars the first good scoring opportunity of the evening. Andreuccetti capitalized, tallying what proved to be the game-winner, as junior goalkeeper Megan Schulz (Redford, Mich.) posted her second shutout of the season.
The Stars outshot the Vikings 11-8, putting three shots on frame to just two shots on goal for the Vikings.
Dominican, now 2-2-0 on the season, open up Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) play on Saturday, hosting the Maranatha Baptist Bible College Crusaders for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff on the Stars’ West Campus Field.
