The Dominican University women’s tennis team fell to 3-3 in the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) after suffering an 8-1 loss at the hands of the Benedictine University Eagles. Viatra Baker (North Aurora, Ill.) picked up the lone point for the Stars, topping Benedictine’s Nicole Choinka 6-3, 6-7 (10-8), 13-5 at number six singles.
Sophomore Monica Budzak (Chicago, Ill.), playing at number five singles, won her first set over Lina Savickas 6-1, but then dropped the second set 6-4 before falling in the third set 10-8.
The Stars now stand at 5-3 on the season and will return to the courts on Saturday, traveling down Division Street to take on neighborhood rival Concordia University Chicago. The action is set to begin at 10:00 a.m.
