Box Score

Mario Napiorkowski (Norridge, Ill.) notched his first career goal in the fourth minute of play as the Stars topped the Alma College Scots on Saturday evening on Dominican's West Campus Field.

Napiorkowski, a junior defender and 2009 NSCAA All-America selection, floated a ball from over 25 yards out that baffled Jon Nowak, the Scots' goalkeeper, to record his first game-winning goal of his collegiate career.

The Stars got an insurance goal in the 68th minute of play as freshman Trent Miller (Rockford, Ill.) played a cross towards junior Lio Tovar (Cicero, Ill.) that got redirected by an Alma defender and landed in the back of the Scots' goal.

Dominican outshot Alma 11-1 and held a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks over the Scots en route to the second victory of the season for the Stars.

Maxwell Gutbrod (Slinger, Wis.) improved to 2-0-0 in goal for the Stars, posting his second consecutive shutout.

Dominican will return to action on Wednesday, traveling to the University of Chicago to take on the Maroons in a Central Region matchup.  The Stars then return home to open the 2010 Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) season against the Maranatha Baptist Bible College Crusaders on Saturday.
