The Dominican University women’s tennis team hosted the defending Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) Champions from Edgewood College on Monday morning, falling to the Eagles 8-1 to slip to 2-2 overall and 1-2 in conference play.

Viatra Baker (North Aurora, Ill.) and Monica Budzak (Chicago, Ill.), teaming up for the first time at number three doubles, claimed the Stars’ lone point of the match, topping their Edgewood counterpart 9-7.

The Stars were swept in singles competition with Elizabeth Nelson (Riverside, Ill.) putting up a tough fight at number one singles, falling to the Eagles’ Hannah Pincsak 6-2, 6-7, 10-5.

The Stars will now sit idle until next weekend when the Marian University Sabres and Lakeland College Muskies travel to Oak Park to battle the Stars on Saturday. Then on Sunday, Dominican will host Purdue University-Calumet in a non-conference match.
