Men’s Basketball Roughed Up By Edgewood

The Edgewood College Eagles shot a blistering 56 percent from the field, dropping the Dominican University men’s basketball team to 7-12 overall and 4-7 in the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) with a 79-64 victory over the Stars in the Igini Sports Forum on Saturday evening.
Ben Wisniewski and Jeff Barczak combined for 46 points on 17-for-27 shooting in the winning effort for the Eagles. Barczak added a game-high 11 rebounds, posting his first double-double of the season in the winning effort.
Leading 19-18 with 9:42 to play in the first half, the Eagles used a 27-8 run to distance themselves from the Stars and never looked back.
Trailing 46-30 at the break, a Darrius Nelson (Michigan City, Ind.) three with 18:27 to play cut the lead to 13 but that was as close as the Stars would get, trailing by as many as 27 along the way.
Nelson finished the night with a team-high 12 points for the Stars while Jovan Turley (Grand Rapids, Mich.) added ten points in the losing effort.
Dominican shot over 46 percent (26-for-56) from the field but turned the ball over 18 times, leading to 21 points for the Eagles.
Dominican will return to the court on Tuesday night, hosting the Rockford College Regents for a 7:00 p.m. tipoff in the Igini Sports Forum.
