Box Score The Dominican University men’s soccer team closed out the 2011 regular season on Tuesday afternoon, remaining undefeated in their first 63 Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) regular season contests dating back to 2006, with a 6-0 thrashing of the Concordia University Chicago Cougars in River Forest.
Freshman
Ryan Ybarra (Des Plaines, Ill.) got the Stars on the board, netting what proved to be the game-winner in the 19
th minute. The score was Ybarra’s eighth of the season and fourth game-winner both a team-best for the Stars.
Edwin Lagunas (Waukegan, Ill.) and
Ryan Roberts (Elmhurst, Ill.) scored in the 22
nd and 26
th minute respectively to give Dominican a 3-0 lead at the half.
Dominican added second half scores by
Logan Marvin (Johnston, Iowa),
Edwin Rodriguez (Chicago, Ill.) and
David Aranda (Wheeling, Ill.) as Dominican scored the most goals in a match since putting seven goals on the board in a 7-0 win over Maranatha Baptist Bible College on September 24.
The Stars are now 61-0-2 all-time in NAC regular season play, having won the first six NAC regular season championships in the history of the conference. Include play in the Lake Michigan Conference (LMC) in 2005 and the Stars are undefeated in their last 70 regular season conference matches.
Dominican, now 16-2-0 on the season and 11-0-0 in NAC play, will sit idle until the semifinals of the NAC Men’s Soccer Tournament. The Stars, the top-seed in the tournament, will host the semifinal match on Tuesday, November 1.
