The Dominican University women’s tennis team rolled over the Concordia University Chicago Cougars 8-1 on Monday afternoon, pushing the Stars’ winning streak to six matches and improving the team’s record to 7-3 in the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC).

The Stars swept all three doubles flights, led by Elizabeth Nelson (Riverside, Ill.) and Kornelia Nowaczyk (Konin, Poland) at number one doubles.  The Stars duo cruised past the Cougars’ Allison Korenchan and Kamile Udrenaite 8-0.  Jennifer LoRusso (Burbank, Ill.) and Rosmary Orchanian (Portage, Mich.) improved to 8-2 in NAC dual matches at number three doubles with an 8-4 win while Rachel Taddy (Cary, Ill.) and Jillian Metcalf (Oak Lawn, Ill.) moved to 7-3 at number two doubles with an 8-4 win.

In singles play, the Stars claimed flights one, two, four, five and six.  Marbeya Berner (New Lenox, Ill.) remained undefeated in NAC play at number six singles, sweeping past her Cougar opponent 6-0, 6-0.  At number three singles, Taddy dropped just her second match of the season and first in conference play, falling to the Cougars’ Amber Diaz 7-5, 2-6, 10-6.

Dominican now stands at 8-4 on the season and will travel to Aurora University on Tuesday afternoon to take on the Spartans in the Stars’ final NAC dual match of the 2011 season.
