Men’s Basketball Falls At Neighborhood Rival

Box Score The Dominican University men’s basketball team dropped its Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) opener on Tuesday night, falling neighborhood rival Concordia University Chicago 69-49 to fall to 0-6 on the season.
 
The Stars led 30-29 at the half, but went just 6-for-35 from the field in the second stanza, including going 2-for-19 from three-point range while the Cougars heated up on the offensive end, shooting 56 percent from the field in the second half.
 
Darius Nelson (Michigan City, Ind.) led the Stars offensively with 11 points.  However, the Stars’ senior guard, shooting over 40 percent from three through five games, went just 1-for-8 from long distance and 4-for-14 from the field.
 
Issa Avery led all scorers, pouring in 25 points for the Cougars on 8-for-14 shooting while Charles Gordon added 24 points in the winning effort.
 
The Stars return to action on Saturday, hosting the Lakeland College Muskies for a 4:15 p.m. tipoff in the Igini Sports Forum.
