The Dominican University women’s tennis team pulled to 4-4 overall and 3-3 in the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) with an 8-1 win over the Benedictine University Eagles on Thursday afternoon.
The Stars continued their strong singles play, improving to 23-13 in NAC singles action with wins at flights two, three, four, five and six led by
Rachel Taddy (Cary, Ill.) and
Marbeya Berner (New Lenox, Ill.) who both remained undefeated in NAC play with wins at number three and six singles respectively. Taddy, a sophomore, picked up a thrilling three-set victory over the Eagles’ Vivianna Iway, 6-7, 6-2, 10-5, and is now 7-1 in singles play on the year and 6-0 against NAC opponents.
In doubles play, the Stars’ number three doubles team of
Jennifer LoRusso (Burbank, Ill.) and
Rosemary Orchanian (Portage, Mich.) picked up their fourth NAC doubles victory at number three doubles, topping Benedictine’s Ashley Shall and Anna Savio. Dominican’s number one and two doubles teams also picked up victories in the winning effort.
The Stars return to action on Saturday, travelling to Wisconsin to take on the Marian University Sabres and the Lakeland College Muskies.
