Box Score Despite a combined 38 points from
Brandon Barkley (Detroit, Mich.) and
Darrius Nelson (Michigan City, Ind.), the Dominican University Stars fell, 67-58, at the hands of the Aurora University Spartans. Barkley tied a career-high with 21 points, scoring 13 points in the second half, to pace the Stars in the losing effort.
Dominican trailed by just three, Â 58-55, as
Logan Harris (Pleasant Plains, Ill.) connected on a baseline jumper, however the basket was the Stars final field goal of the game, getting just three free throws from
Kyle Sherwin (White Lake, Mich.) the rest of the way while the Spartans sealed the game at the line, going 4-for-5 at the charity stripe in the final minute of play.
Nelson, the team's leading scorer on the season at 14.5 points per game, added 17 points for the Stars but it was Aurora's Scott Laskowski that took game-high honors with 31 points and 18 rebounds.Â
The loss drops the Stars to 3-11 overall and 1-5 in the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC). Dominican will return to action on Tuesday, January 17, traveling to Lisle to take on the Benedictine University Eagles.Â
