Stars Edged By Falcons

Box Score Matt Kuzniar's (Wheaton, Ill.) three drew iron in the waning seconds and Luke Doedens sealed the game at the free throw line as the visiting Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons squeaked by the Dominican University men's basketball team on Saturday afternoon, 78-75, in the Igini Sports Forum.

Dominican, shooting near 37 percent from three-point distance on the season and connecting on six of ten attempts for long range in the first half, went 0-for-10 from behind the three-point stripe in the second half. 

Darrius Nelson (Michigan City, Ind.) paced the Stars in the losing effort, scoring 16 points on 6-for-13 shooting from the field.  In 31 minutes off the Stars bench, Nelson logged six rebounds in three assists.

Logan Harris (Pleasant Plains, Ill.) chipped in 12 points off the bench while Kyle Sherwin (White Lake, Mich.) and Taylor DeRoo (Holland, Mich.) added 11 and ten points respectively. 

The Falcons (9-3, 5-1 NAC) were led by Mitchell Schneider's 18 points while Doedens added 16 points, ten in the first half, in the winning effort. 

The loss drops the Stars to 3-10 on the season and 1-4 in the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC).  The Stars will travel to Aurora University on Wednesday to take on the Spartans.  Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
