Box Score The Dominican University women's soccer team scored just 32 seconds into the game, cruising to a 9-0 win over the Maranatha Baptist Bible College Crusaders in Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) play on Saturday afternoon.
Gina Mazzetta (Wheeling, Ill.) was able to strike a ball over the Crusader goalkeeper from 25 yards out, scoring the first goal of her collegiate career, and the Stars offense was just getting started.
Freshman Kelly Iovino (Mt. Prospect, Ill.) tallied three goals on the afternoon for the Stars and is now tied for the team lead with
Kelly Petty (Crystal Lake, Ill.) who notched her fifth goal of the season in the winning effort.
Jen Russ (Downers Grove, Ill.),
Leah Tednes (Hoffman Estates, Ill.),
Laura Yonke (Stevens Point, Wis.) and
Autumn Koomler (Fort Wayne, Ind.) all scored for the Stars dominated the stat sheet.
Dominican is now 4-4-0 on the season and 3-1-0 in conference play. The Stars return to action on Sunday, traveling to Dubuque, Iowa, to take on the Loras College Duhawks in non-conference play. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at Loras' Rock Bowl.
