Women's Tennis Wins Division Street Battle

The Dominican University women's tennis team knocked off their River Forest rival, 6-3 in Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) action on Saturday afternoon.

Dominican took a 2-1 lead after doubles play as Marbeya Berner (New Lenox, Ill.) and Rosemary Orchanian (Portage, Mich.) swept number two doubles, 8-0, and Emily Hereford (St. Louis, Mo.) and Stephanie Castaneda (Mendota, Ill.) topped the Cougars' Hannah Kaul and Becca Lamanna, 8-3 at number three doubles.

In singles play, the Stars won at three, four, five and six singles with Berner and Monica Budzak (Chicago, Ill.) not surrendering a single game at four and five singles respectively.

The win improves the Stars record to 4-4 on the season while dropping the Cougars to 0-10. Dominican returns to the courts on Sunday, traveling to Naperville to take on the North Central College Cardinals in non-conference action.
